Fly Tying Area
Our Fly Tying Bench is located in the main lounge area.
| Our fly tying bench is open to all Guests of the lodge. Here is where your Guides tie all of their flies for you to use. It is fully stocked for almost all flies.
The Guides are very happy to teach anyone to tie flies that work great in our area. This goes from the beginning fly tyer to the very experienced.
In the evening, the bench is an area of the lodge that Guests and Guides alike congregate to, in order to swap stories of fishing and flies.

We keep the bench full of colorful marabou and rabbit strips, great for the various salmon flies we tie. |
| Here's a couple of Guests tying a few flies before leaving the lodge for some "evening fishing." |

| We tie quite a few different Mouse patterns, which work great with the rainbows, especially the larger rainbows. Click here to visit our "mouse page". |
From "Start to Finish"
First you tie a fly, fill up your fly box with variations in color, and the fun starts, catching kings with your own hand tied flies.
To catch a King with your own fly, that you just tied the night before, is truly a great experience. (Even adults can do it!)
We use a variety of colors and types of flies for the salmon. Generally bright colors seem to work best, although we also use some darker leach patterns that are great from time to time.
Variety really is the key! |
| The Guides will tie all of the flies that you will use, or you can tie a few yourself, it's all up to you. All of the flies and fly tying matierial are available at no additonal charge to you.
We also have many patterns that we have developed at Lake Marie Lodge for our 5 species of salmon here, as well as a few nice ones for rainbow trout as well. The Guides are very happy to share our "inside information" on flies that really work.
