"David,

Jim and I really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. I especially liked talking to all the other Guests about their day's adventures, and we got to share ours as well,..... thanks again for the memories....I'm sure we'll see you next year, or at the latest, the year after.

Introduction, Brief Overview

Welcome to Lake Marie Lodge.Thank you very much for your interest in our extremely remote Alaska fishing lodge.
We hope you enjoy viewing and reading our web site. It is very informative and should answer some of your questions about our operation. Please feel free to call or email with any unanswered questions, as we would be happy to respond. Our toll free phone number is 1-877-377-8440.

Lake Marie Lodge is located on 120 acres in a very private and remote area of Alaska.

The lodge owns an additional 9 pieces of private property located in various prime fishing locations. These 10 different locations and 375 total acres ensures that we have some of the very best fishing in Alaska.

We are a fly-in lodge and are located about 90 air miles from Anchorage. It takes about 45 minutes of small plane flying time to reach us from Anchorage.

Our location is our key to offering the world's best in small stream fishing. There are 7 different streams within 3 miles that salmon and rainbow trout run in.We fish these and many others in order to offer the very best wade fishing in Alaska.
There's nothing in the world quite like "sight fishing" Alaska king salmon. To be able to see the kings in the clear water as they take your fly or lure is an experience that everyone should have.

Our newest fishing adventure is catching King Salmon on the surface using floating or dry flies. Yes, King salmon (chinook) can be enticed to rise and strike on the surface!

Over the course of the last several years, we had been developing and perfecting a technique to catch these huge fish on the surface. We previously thought that silver salmon on the surface was the ultimate fishing experience, however we have come to believe that the much larger king salmon is indeed the king sized ultimate fishing experience! Click here, for a ten second video showing a king salmon striking a surface fly, and watch the king's explosive reaction.

The silver salmon (coho) fishing is equally thrilling in the clear water. We specialize in the use of dry flies (surface flies) in enticing the silver salmon to hit on the surface.

Silvers on the surface! What could be better?

If you want to see what we mean by "surface fishing" for silver salmon, click here, for an 8 second video clip. This is in window's media player format.

The rainbow trout fishing can only be described as awesome. These native rainbow trout follow the schools of salmon all summer and grow very fat on the spawned salmon eggs and later on decaying flesh. They are so eager to eat that they even hit dries in the midst of gorging themselves on salmon eggs. We catch rainbows all summer long on dries, however the arctic grayling is the king of dry flies. Arctic grayling will rise on any day and at any time.

Our Mission
Our mission at Lake Marie Lodge is to provide the very best Rainbow Trout and Salmon fishing in Alaska. We have developed some of the very best areas to fish in Alaska and we have miles of secluded rivers, streams, and creeks in which you will not see another person. The fishing at Lake Marie Lodge is truly spectacular.

There are two factors which sets our operation apart from any others.

We only take a limited number of Guests. We limit ourselves to only averaging about 14 Guests, although we have the ability to handle groups up to 21. Our operation is centered around you, and how we can provide the best overall fishing experience possible. We don't see how an operation carrying 30-40 Guests can center their efforts around an individual and provide him, or her, with great fishing. Instead of doubling the occupancy of Lake Marie Lodge, when we expanded a few years ago, we instead, built another lodge and started a different fishing operation. Doubling our current size at Lake Marie Lodge would certainly defeat the concept of providing individual and personal service.

Our Location. We are located in an area where three river systems come together, each having several creeks and streams running into them. Because we have access to a variety of fishing areas, you are assured of the very best fishing opportunities. Please take a minute to consider the following:

* There are 3 major river systems within 3 miles, (2 within 1 mile).

* There are 7 streams within 3 miles that Salmon run, (4 within 1 1/4 miles).

* Within a 20 mile radius of Lake Marie Lodge, Salmon run in 5 major lakes, 8 rivers, and over 35 streams.

 About this Web Site

This web site is designed to provide detailed information about fishing at Lake Marie Lodge, and Alaska fishing in general. It is designed similar to a book, with chapters. It is organized to be viewed from the top of the Table Of Contents (Located on the Home Page), to the bottom of the Table of Contents. You do not have to view it this way, however, and may instead go straight to a particular topic of interest. We have tried to include as much information about the operation of Lake Marie Lodge as possible and about fishing in Alaska in general. Many of the pictures were selected, not only for the fish, but for the creek or stream in the background. By paying particular attention to the backgrounds you can see the various types of water you will be fishing in.

Some of the web pages are long and will take a few minutes to download, but the wait is definitely worth it if you wish to learn more about Fishing in Alaska, and Lake Marie Lodge in particular.
