We are one of only 2 Lodges in Alaska that use Helicopters

Helicopter Fly Out Fishing

at

Lake Marie Lodge

We use Helicopters to access some of the very best and remote fishing in the world. We can fly into almost every stretch of stream, creek, or river in our area. We will drop you down on the gravel, just a few feet from hundreds of fish that have never seen a fly or lure. It is truly unbelievable, the fishing that can be accessed through the use of a helicopter. We are very fortunate that we are legally allowed to use a helicopter in our area, because it is a violation of various state and federal regulations in other parts of Alaska, especially the Bristol Bay and Iliamna regions. We do feel very lucky that we are allowed to access these extremely remote areas with ease through the use of helicopters

Fly right from the Lodge to where the fish are biting!

Just imagine the thrill of walking (just yards from the front door of the Lodge) over to and climbing into a helicopter with your guide for a 5 to 20 minute ride at treetop level, over some of the most spectacular scenery of Alaska, all the while watching for bears and moose. When you do see a giant moose in a swamp, the helicopter slows down and hovers while you take pictures and video. This is impossible in an airplane, as you have to keep circling and circling while you only catch a few glimpses of the big Bull Moose. After hovering and observing the moose, you're off again to your fishing stream. Up ahead you see a clear water stream with nice gravel bottoms and deep holes and as you get closer, you're able to pick out the salmon stacked in the holes and even a few rainbows trailing behind. You think to yourself," I would love to fish that stretch with those deep holes" just about the time the helicopter starts to slow down, and you realize this is your destination for the day. What a day this is going to be!

Here is an example of our Helicopter Fly Outs
The picture on the left shows gravel bar #32, where we will drop you off with your Guide for an outstanding day of King Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing. (The silver salmon is not too bad either in this stretch in August).

About 3 fantastic river miles of fishing later, you are picked up at gravel bar #46, picture on right, after spending the day fishing Kings and Rainbows from hole to hole.

As you can tell from the picture on the left, there are no roads or places for an airplane to land. The only access is through the use of helicopters!

Helicopter Flight Seeing

We also have Helicopter Flight Seeing into Denali National Park and Preserve. This is a "once in a lifetime experience" as you fly up and down the 40-mile long Kahiltna Glacier right to the base of towering Mt. McKinley, also known as "Denali." This is one trip you don't want to miss. This flight seeing is relatively inexpensive as the helicopter carries 3 Guests and the Lodges are so close to Denali National Park that is doesn't take many minutes to fly from the Lodges into the Park. This is an additional charge and is dependent upon the helicopter being available

The flight up and down the 40-mile long Kahiltna Glacier, pictured at left, is truly unforgettable. We fly right up to the face of Mt. McKinley (Denali) for a fantastic view of the mountain.
