"I want to compliment your staff in how well they treated us. We were made to feel just like family...we couldn't have had a better guide...the scenery was magical."

Denali National Park Flight Seeing

Lake Marie Lodge is located only 16 miles from Denali National Park and Preserve. Our location allows us to offer flightseeing into Denali National Park for a very reasonable price, (since the lodge is next door to the Park)

We are actually closer to Denali (Mt. McKinley, 20,320 feet) than their own park headquarters are. The views from the lodge is truly outstanding. Mt. McKinley, also known as Denali, sticks up through the Alaska Range for over 3 1/2 miles.

The national park is called Denali National Park and Preserve, however the name of the mountain itself is still Mt. McKinley.

Most local people use the name Denali instead of Mt. McKinley.

Mt. Foraker is on the left, 17,400 feet, and Mt. McKinley (Denali) is on the right, 20,320 feet.

Here's a "Little Known Fact"

Mt. McKinley is the tallest mountain in the world, when measured from the base to the top. (not counting some mountains in the ocean).

When measured from bottom to top, McKinley is taller than Mt. Everest. Mt. Everest is apparently located on a plateau about 17,000 feet high, and Everest is just a peak among other peaks. When you are inside Denali National Park, you can be at the visitior center inside the park and be only about 300 feet high. This puts the vertical distant up at 20,000 feet, more than 3 and 1/2 miles up.

This huge vertical relief accounts for the dramatic pictures of Mt. McKinley. Another giant mountain in Mt. Foraker. It sits to the southwest of Mt. McKinley about 10 miles. It is the third highest peak in the United States. It too, has an enormous vertical rise, which shows up well in photographs.

Our Flight Seeing into Denali National Park is incredible. We fly into the Park and up the 40 mile long Kahiltna Glacier, pictured to the right, and up to the face of Denali.

The Kahiltna Glacier, above, and also to the right, is about 40 miles long.
Flight Seeing into the Park is an experience that no one should miss.

The snowfields, peaks, and crevasses are spectacular.

The picture at the left shows a series of crevasses.

Here's the top of Mt McKinley, also known as Denali.

The mountains also tower above the
rivers and streams we fish.
